President Donald Trump is quite the people person. I was part of the NRA audience that he spoke to on Friday afternoon. As he walked out onto the stage, the crowd went wild as “USA” was chanted among the clapping and whistling. This is the second time I have seen the president speak, the first time was earlier in 2017 at CPAC, and I must say, the crowd’s energy is really part of the experience.
After the initial excitement settled, Trump spoke to us about how he, as president, will NEVER infringe on our second amendment rights, and that the war on our guns is over! Trump said that gun owners now have a “true friend in the White House.”
It was refreshing to hear the leader of our country actually back our rights, rather than try to take them away. He said, “To the NRA, I can proudly say I will never, ever let you down,” he continued, “Freedom is not a gift from government. Freedom is a gift from God.”
We never doubted Trump’s ability, and at times, we were the only ones fighting for him, and he has not let that go unnoticed . The president personally thanked us, and said, “You came through for me, and I am going to come through for you.”
Another thing that made his trip to Atlanta, Georgia for the NRA’s Annual Meeting, is that Trump is the first sitting president since Ronald Reagan, in 1983, to address a major forum at the NRA.
Here is the moment that Chris Cox, NRA’s Executive Director, addressed the liberal media and intruduces President Trump.
As you can hear, Trump also endorses Karen Handel as the Republican candidate for Georgia, facing Dem. Jon Ossof, for Senate.
How do you think the president is doing? Today marks his 100th day as president, and I think he is doing a dang good job.
