Over the past eight years of Barack Obama and semi-Democrat control, there have been a number of efforts in Congress to pass stricter gun control laws. Fortunately, very few of those anti-gun laws were passed.
In response, a number of Democrat controlled states passed their own strict gun control laws. Among those states is California, Connecticut, Illinois, Maryland and New York.
However, if US Rep. Chris Collins (R-NY) gets his newly introduced bill passed, those states may find that many of their strict anti-gun laws will be nullified. His bill, HR 3576, Second Amendment Guarantee Act, would ban any state or local gun control law or ordinance targeting rifles and shotguns that are stricter than federal laws.
Strict gun-control laws enacted by Connecticut state politicians in 2013, after more than two dozen school kids and staff members at Sandy Hook Elementary were shot dead by a crazed gunman, may soon be lifted by the federal government.
That is, if one gun-loving Republican congressman from upstate New York has his way.
U.S. Rep. Chris Collins (pictured above) unveiled new federal legislation Monday called the “Second Amendment Guarantee Act,” or H.R. 3576. If passed into law, the new bill would prevent all state, county and city governments from enforcing local rifle and shotgun regulations stricter than those at the federal level…
Introducing a bill is a far cry from getting it passed. The percentage of introduced bills that are passed by both the House and Senate and then signed into law by the President is a small percentage. You know that Democrats will fight this bill, which means it’s important to get it passed. Let your people in Washington know that you want them to support Collins HR 3576.
