I am awestruck at the audacity of New York Times. On May 15, their editorial board claimed that allowing campus carry, and allowing college students being able to fire back when under attack is a ‘bizarre premise”. So it is bizarre to let college students protect themselves now?
I’ll tell you what is bizarre, liberals and their BS logic!
The editorial board was particularly bothered by Arkansas and Georgia, both of which legalized campus carry earlier this year, bringing the total number of campus states to 11. (The NYT reports that 10 states have legalized campus carry, but the number is actually 11. Those states are: Arkansas, Colorado, Utah, Georgia, Idaho, Mississippi, Wisconsin, Oregon, Texas, Kansas, and Ohio.)
The NYT claims, “The issue…[of Campus carry] is being fought in statehouses as the gun lobby presses to arm far more citizens in far more places regardless of the risks.” Such a claim misses the essence of what is actually happening with the campus carry movement and it completely omits what the gun control lobby is doing to keep students, professors, and school staff vulnerable at all times
I don’t think they understand that students who are advocating for the campus carry, are already carrying. We carry into Walmart (especially Walmart), grocery stores, gas stations, church, work, and the list goes on. In fact, the only place we do not carry our guns into are the “gun free” zones, and even then I can’t promise that we don’t have a gun concealed. Here’s the best part, you would never even know unless the need arose to use it. We simply want to courtesy of carrying on campus as well, which seem to be targeted more and more lately.
Are college students’ lives really so devalued that lawmakers do not want us to survive an attack? Perhaps they are afraid that we will realize their massive flaws and stop being their little sheep.
News flash, we stopped being sheep a long time ago.
[W]hen Georgia and Florida took up campus carry again, Everytown for Gun Safety–another Michael Bloomberg-funded fixture in the gun control lobby–tweeted their opposition to law-abiding students being allowed to bring guns on campus for self-defense. All the while, the gun control lobby ignores the horror stories told by women like Amanda Collins, a concealed carry permit holder who was raped on the University of Nevada campus in 2007. She was unable to have her gun with her for self-defense because the campus was “gun-free,” just as the gun control lobby likes it.
So, New York Times, what is your real agenda here? You claim this is based on “federal research” but the only “research” on their site about students and gun self defense is from 1999. Hmmm…..
Remember kids, criminals don’t obey laws. Good guys with guns stop the bad guys with guns.
