Ever since Barack Obama took office nearly eight years ago, gun sales have drastically increased. Some refer to it as the ‘Obama surge’ but others argue there is no such thing as the Obama surge. The sales of assault rifles in California prior to the state’s new anti-gun laws take effect show that the Obama surge is real.
President Obama’s time in office has been marked by some of the strongest gun sale surges the country has ever seen.
Whenever new gun control laws have hit the table, firearm sales have had a tendency to see a significant increase — something that’s recently become known as the “Obama surge.”
It seems this effect applies even when Obama isn’t involved: in California, for example, as a result of impending gun legislation, CBS Los Angeles reports that gun stores in the state are literally selling out of AR-15s.
