Texas Governor Greg Abbott went to a gun range to sign a bill into law that lowers gun license fees to the lowest in the nation. After shooting at a target with a 9mm handgun, Abbott signed the bill into law and raised controversy among liberals by making a joke about carrying around his gun in case he sees any reporters. Instantly, the anti-gun Brady Campaign criticized Abbott for his joke.
Gov. Greg Abbott visited an Austin gun range Friday morning to sign a bill into law that would lower the cost of a gun license in Texas, giving the state one of the lowest fees in the country.
Abbott took to the range with a 9mm handgun to celebrate, spending several minutes on target practice. After he finished, Abbott held up his target for the press in attendance and said, “I’m gonna carry this around in case I see any reporters.”
The Brady Campaign, a national group opposed to gun violence, criticized Abbott for his joke, calling it “dangerous and out of line” in light of recent attacks against journalists…
Note that it’s okay for liberals to talk about shooting conservatives but it’s not okay for a conservative to joke about shooting liberals. The Brady Campaign’s upset is due to the double standard that exists in today’s society where liberals are allowed to say and do practically anything they want, but conservatives are not granted the same First Amendment right of free speech.
