A robbery suspect in southeast Washington D.C. was shot by police after he refused to drop his weapon.

The story is still developing.

FOX News reported that Peter Newsham, Metropolitan Police Department Interim Police Chief, stated that the suspect with the gun robbed a woman earlier this morning. Then bystanders pursued the man, and managed to flag down officers.

Officers spotted the gun and told him to drop it, but when he failed to do so, shots were fired.

Newsham told reporters that the man was taken to the hospital. He is says the man is “in surgery in very serious condition.”

I could be speaking in a biased opinion here, but I would say thats what happens when you rob someone and then refuse to drop your gun when police catch up to you.

The race of the man is unknown at this time.
