The video below is miraculous to say the least. A man walking down the street is mowed down by a bus that appears to lose control. The bus not only slams into him and propels him several feet forward, but also knocks down part part of the building he was walking next to.
You watch him be thrust and crumpled and think, “He is either dead or seriously injured.” However, you watch for a couple more seconds to see him stand up and walk into the doors of the pub that he landed near.
I supposed, if I went through something like that, I’d need a beer too!
Simon Smith, 53, was thrown down the street when the runaway double decker careered onto the pavement and ploughed straight into him.
The impact of his head hitting the windscreen shattered the glass, yet he got up from the pavement seconds later.
Daniel Fraifeld, 50, who co-owns the Purple Turtle bar, said: “I think he [Simon] pretty much got up, brushed himself down and then an ambulance came and took him to be checked.
“He got looked over and didn’t have any lasting injuries – but he’s covered in scrapes and bruises. He then got released from the hospital and I think he just went for a pint to relax.”
It’s not yet known what caused the bus to collide with Smith in Reading, Berkshire, shortly after 9am on Saturday.
Watch for yourself:
It almost makes you wonder though, for him to have survived that, if he was not already drunk when he was hit. Often times, people in extremely bad car wrecks (usually drunk drivers) often survive because their body is intoxicated. The alcohol keeps their body and mind relaxed so they do not flex up. Therefore making them more foldable, or flexible, and they are able to survive more trauma.
