During the 8 years of Obama’s tenure in the White House, sales of guns and ammunition skyrocketed as many worried Americans bought before Obama banned them. Trump is pro-2nd Amendment and his election is already having an impact on sales.
Area gun dealers say they are seeing a “Trump effect” on gun sales which translates into far less angst about buying firearms and ammo than in years past.
President-elect Donald Trump has said he is a strong supporter of Second Amendment gun ownership rights, and that has lessened the fear some might have of more restrictive gun laws, at least for the next four years.
Ammunition already is becoming easier to find on a regular basis, according to Brent Ball, owner of 417 Guns in Springfield.
“The last eight years people were buying to horde. They were filling up their closets with ammo,” Ball said. “Now that the threat of more regulations is gone people are more willing to go out and shoot what they have. Instead of buying 10,000 rounds of .22 they’re now OK with buying 500 rounds because they know it’ll be there.”
