Once, I actually stomached listening to former New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg talk about his anti-gun campaign. Not only was he pushing more and stricter gun control laws, but I recall him strongly hinting that no American needs to own a gun. Bloomberg said that guns have no purpose in American homes other than to kill people and if we got rid of guns, there would be less gun violence and fewer people killed.
Harris County, Texas is one of the more populated counties in the nation, with a population of just over 4 million. The county seat is Houston, the fourth largest city in the United States. It also has the dubious distinction of being the county with the 4th highest number of murders, according to the Crime Prevention Research Center.
Like many large cities, there are numerous smaller cities and communities surrounding Houston. One of those is the community known as Cliffmarshall, located northwest of Houston.
Tuesday night, around 9:15pm, a homeowner was gladly returning home from when he was ambushed by three thugs. They pistol-whipped him and forced him to let them into the house. Once inside, the intruders force the man, his wife and his two kids, ages 5 and 6, to lie on the floor. While the intruders looked for items to steal, the homeowner managed to get his gun and began shooting at the intruders, who also shot back as they fled the house.
I really wish that homeowners like the two mentioned in this post had the opportunity to stand face-to-face with Bloomberg and other anti-gun politicians like Clinton and Obama, and ask them what they were supposed to do had they not had their gun. How could Bloomberg or anyone else justify banning and restricting guns and leaving women and families defenseless in their own homes?
