How do you pass any form of gun control without violating the Second Amendment? According to a number of retired military leaders, there are a number of ways of reducing gun deaths without infringing on the Second Amendment. While that is true, relying on any form of gun control IS an infringement of the Second Amendment rights of the American people.

Sixteen retired military leaders have drafted a letter to Congress urging them to take action to pass more gun control laws so as to address the national crisis of gun deaths and violence. They claim that by not passing needed gun control laws that Congress is no longer speaking for the majority of the American people, but many will argue that point.

(Chicago Tribune) – Sixteen of the nation’s top retired military commanders are urging Congress to pass gun control legislation, arguing that there are many steps that can be taken to curb gun deaths that do not violate the Second Amendment.

In a letter they plan to send to Congressional leaders, the retired commanders, including Army Gens. Wesley Clark and Michael Hayden, Navy Admiral Eric Olson, Air Force Lt. Gen. Norman Seip and Marine Brig. Gen. Stephen Cheney, argue that Congress is “no longer speaking or voting for the majority of Americans, including gun owners” when it comes to the issue of firearms.

“There is no acceptable excuse for our elected leaders to avoid addressing this as a national crisis,” they write.

For one thing, these generals are only listening to the vocal anti-gun minority and not the quieter pro-gun majority in America. Secondly and more importantly, the rash of gun deaths and violence has nothing to do with guns, but everything to do with a Godless society and until that issue is addressed and America returns to its Christian foundation, the problem will continue to exist, regardless if gun are banned or not.
