Democrats in Michigan are trying to force some people to choose between keeping their guns or serving as foster parents for their grandson. William and Jill Johnson made efforts to legally become the foster parents of their grandson. However, the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services informed the couple that they needed to choose between keeping their guns or fostering their grandson, but they could not do both.
To the surprise and shock of many, Ada Winkler, a UCLA law professor and adamant gun-control advocate has spoken out in favor of the Johnsons. He contends that the Michigan officials are violating the constitutional rights of older couple by giving them the ultimatum of choosing between their 2nd Amendment rights and their grandson.
UCLA law professor—and go-to gun control commentator—Adam Winkler is speaking up on behalf of grandparents who were allegedly put in the position of choosing between foster-parenting their grandson or keeping their Second Amendment rights.
The case is unfolding in Michigan and revolves around William and Jill Johnson’s efforts to care for their grandson.
On July 18 Breitbart News reported that the Second Amendment Foundation (SAF) filed suit against the head of the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services over alleged violations of the Johnson’s gun rights. William Johnson claims the case worker said, “If you want to care for your grandson you will have to give up some of your constitutional rights.” …
Anti-gun Democrats have been stooping to new lows in trying to covertly force individuals to give up their 2nd Amendment rights. It shows just how desperate and despicable some Democrats are. Whoever was responsible for giving the Johnsons the ultimatum to choose should not only be fired but should be sued by the Johnsons and if possible, charged with using extortion to push their agenda.
