For the most part, Illinois and its largest cities are run by anti-gun neo-com Democrats. Over the years, they have passed some of the stricter gun control laws in the nation especially in Cook County and Chicago, where it seems that between the three government entities, gang members and criminals find it much easier to obtain guns illegally than a law-abiding citizen can obtain one legally.

A group of Republicans in the Illinois House is trying to move ahead on a bill that would help expand some gun rights to state residents, or as some might put it, return some of the gun rights that have been taken away from them.

(Chicago Tribune) – House Republicans moved forward on legislation to expand gun owners’ rights, the first gun-related measure since mass shootings in Las Vegas and Texas killed more than 80 people.

The Judiciary Committee is scheduled to vote Wednesday on a National Rifle Association-supported bill that would allow a gun owner with a state-issued concealed carry permit to carry a handgun in any state that allows concealed weapons…

The reciprocity measure would allow gun owners to travel freely between states without worrying about conflicting state laws or “onerous” civil suits, said Rep. Richard Hudson, R-N.C., the bill’s sponsor.

The Judiciary panel also is expected to consider legislation to strengthen the FBI database of prohibited gun buyers after the Air Force failed to report the criminal history of the gunman who slaughtered more than two dozen people at a Texas church…

The two sides of gun control and gun rights are so diametrically opposed, that it seems there will always be a political battle until one side gets everything they want and the other side gives up and goes away. Either guns will be totally banned from private ownership or every gun control law is eradicated, is the only way to settle the ongoing dispute.
