In many states, local (city and county) officials pass their own strict gun ordinances to restrict gun owners of their right to purchase, own or possess firearms. Different counties, even neighboring counties may have differing gun ordinances so that what is legal in one county, is not legal just across the county line.

New Hampshire is like a number of states that have passed a law declaring that no local or county government is allowed to pass their own gun ordinances that are different than those of the state. However, that has not stopped some local officials for doing so anyway.

A new bill in the state legislature not only helps reinforce the state’s right to dictate uniform gun laws, but it also would create a fine of up to $5,000 to those local officials who defy the state laws.

( – A bill that would strike down local laws that attempt to regulate firearms was in the crosshairs Wednesday at the New Hampshire Statehouse.

Supporters of the measure cited an existing New Hampshire law, RSA 159:26, which gives the state exclusive power over regulating firearms. The statute also bans cities and towns from trying to set their own rules. But a couple of municipalities have put forward ordinances on firearms which those backing the bill said forced the need for their legislation proposed in HB 1749.

Discussing the state’s authority over cities and towns, Rep. Dan Itse, R-Fremont, said “the way we are organized, the towns are not allowed to do anything except that which we (the state government) permit.” …

This is the same thing that the federal government needs to do with any local, county or state official who votes for sanctuary status in protecting illegals. These officials are intentionally defying federal laws and therefore should face stiff fines and/or jail time. Once these anti-American officials are fined and jailed, others will drop their support for sanctuary status and we can begin to clean up and deport the millions of illegal aliens that have invaded our country.
