Gun rights advocates have been wanting Congress to pass a law that makes gun rights equal throughout the nation. Currently, a legal concealed carry permit holder can be arrested and charged with a felony gun crime just by crossing over a state boundary line with their gun.

States are required to honor the driver’s licenses of other states, so shouldn’t they be required to do the same with concealed carry permit holders? That’s what gun rights advocates have been pushing.

Rep. Chris Collins (R-NY) has introduced a bill to try to help accomplish a universal nationwide standard on gun rights – gun control.

New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo has vowed to file a lawsuit against the federal government if the bill is passed and signed into law.

Gov. Andrew Cuomo said Tuesday that he’ll sue the federal government if a bill sponsored by Rep. Chris Collins to override parts of the SAFE Act becomes law.

“If they try to overrule the state of New York, we will sue, because the state has rights, too,” Cuomo said. “And especially with this federal government, it’s very important that the states represent their rights and assert their rights. And I will assert my right to the fullest extent of the law, because I am diametrically opposed and the people of my state are diametrically opposed to much of what this federal government is trying to do.”

Collins, a Buffalo-area Republican, announced his legislation on Monday. It would prohibit states from imposing stricter regulations on firearms than those put in place by the federal government, …

Cuomo is accusing Collins of playing politics with his bill and says it had nothing to do with passing a bill to help standardize gun laws. Yet, isn’t Cuomo playing politics by all of his anti-gun actions and for filing the lawsuit if Collins’ bill is passed. This is typical for a liberal Democrat. It’s okay for them to play politics but it’s not okay if Republicans play politics.
