Last month we told you about Oregon’s illegal and evil effort to disarm their citizens. This past week, Oregon’s Governor signed a bill into law that will allow the government to confiscate the firearms of law abiding citizens. It’s an affront to the Constitution and it should anger Americans across the nation.
If Oregon’s legislators won’t protect the rights of their citizens then the people of Oregon will have to take matters into their own hands.
Thankfully, a few battle-hardened GOP operatives are ready and willing to fight for the right to give the people a chance to decide.
Two state representatives and a former candidate for the state House filed a referendum Tuesday that would repeal a new state law that allows officials to seize a person’s firearms if they pose a danger to themselves or family members.
Rep. Mike Nearman, R-Independence; Rep. Bill Post, R-Keizer; and one-time candidate Teri Grier will now begin an attempt to gather the more than 80,000 valid signatures required to get their referendum on the November 2018 ballot.
The law their referendum would repeal, Senate Bill 719, was the signature gun control measure enacted by state legislators in 2017. Other, more restrictive bills pushed by Democrats — including Gov. Kate Brown — died without a vote.
A referendum is hardly a panacea to save our rights and our liberty, but when the legislators we elect to represent us refuse to do their duty, voters have to take matters into their own hands.
Sadly, there are enough leftists who’d rather give up their freedom and become slaves to the government that the vote to overturn the legislation is no foregone conclusion. Hopefully the good people of Oregon will wake up and take back their liberty before it’s too late.
