Conservatives have been trying to explain to liberals for years that there is NO SUCH THING as an “assault weapon” when it comes to firearms.
Technically, any weapon ever used in an assault is an “assault weapon,” but the beast that liberals pretends exists when it comes to guns, is just a myth.
If you ask a liberal to explain what an “assault weapon” is you quickly learn that they know NOTHING about the guns they are attempting to ban. Some will argue that assault weapons are “fully automatic,” except that almost all fully automatic weapons are already “banned” except for special circumstances. Some will argue that it’s a gun with a BIG “magazine or clip,” which is when we realize that they don’t understand the difference between a magazine and a clip. Others will argue that it’s about how the gun “looks,” which is when you realize that you’re talking to a complete and utter fool.
Why would what a gun looks like be a deciding factor in whether or not it should be banned? What sense does that make?
It seems that one of the more popular “new” Democrats to make her way to Congress is as silly and foolish as her fellow leftists.
Senator Kamala Harris (D-CA) recently tweeted this nonsense to the world:
It’s long past time we renew the assault weapons ban in this country. It is in the best interest of keeping all of us safe.

What a ridiculous comment. The “assault weapon ban” had a negligible effect on crime and violence in America during its tenure. However, as soon as the ban was lifted, crime, violent crime, and gun crime all began to drop precipitously. Over the last decade in particular several long-term studies have been conducted showing a correlation between rising gun ownership and declining gun crime: See here, here, and here.
Thankfully, many much wiser Americans were on Twitter to inform Harris that her suggestion was idiotic.
Assault weapons as defined by Fed law are already illegal. What are you talking about? That term is misused and misunderstood.

With respect Ms Harris. Rifles (ALL rifles) are used in less than 2% of all gun related crimes in the US. Banning them only hurts good guys.

respectfully, the weapons that were banned under the AWB make up a tiny fraction of the weapons used in shootings.

You do realize more people are killed by blunt force trauma than all long guns combined and that FBI!CDC don't differentiate weapon type?

Murders are down 50% since the ban expired, and *all* rifles account for 2% of all murders. Brilliant strategy.
