Today is as good a day as any to take a peek behind the curtain of the marketing world, and examine the tactics used by controversial figures to stay afloat.

First, we have to realized that not all controversies are created equal.  There is a weight to them, and that weight can be either extremely valuable to those involved, or it can be an oversized anchor on a hole-riddled ship.  In the case of adult film actress Stormy Daniels, her controversy seems to fall somewhere right down the middle.

Stormy, who works both on screen and on-stage, has been in the notoriously short-term porn game for quite a while, and her stock is certainly not rising.  As her appeal fades, so will her income.  So, in an attempt to carve out a niche for herself, she purports that she once had an affair with Donald Trump, was forced to sign an non-disclosure agreement over the affair, and that she is now talking about it in order to set the record straight.

In reality, however, this is nothing more than a cheap publicity stunt being perpetrated by a woman who has been watching her paychecks dwindle with age.

Now, in the wake of the controversy, Daniels has been traveling around the country performing live to larger crowds than ever, and raking in the dough.

She’s even taking her show right to the bear’s den, stripping at a club quite near to President Trump’s Mar-A-Lago home.

Daniels, real name Stephanie Clifford, appeared at Ultra Gentleman’s Club in West Palm Beach, just a 10-minute drive from Trump’s estate and nestled right next door to Trump International Golf Club, The Palm Beach Post reported Sunday.

For Daniels, it was one of the many stops along her “Make America Horny Again” tour, an obvious reference to the president’s campaign mantra. She took the stage around 11:20 p.m., according to the Post, and was dressed like the superhero Wonder Woman.

Daniels was booked for the show in January, when reports about the $130,000 Daniels allegedly received from Trump’s personal lawyer, Michael Cohen, began circulating. The club’s manager, Stacy Saccal, said she was skeptical that Daniels’s fame would last this long.

And, to clear up any wonder about how this newfound fame is affecting Ms. Daniels…

“I cannot believe how it happened,” Stacy Saccal told the Post. “I am stunned it worked out the way it did. I was worried she wouldn’t be relevant at this point.”

Tickets to attend the event were on sale for as little as $25 and as much as $1,000, according to event and ticket site Eventbrite.

Exactly.

In the world of celebrity, there is a clear advantage to following the supply and demand principles of economics, and Stormy Daniels is doing just that.

Perhaps she’s just dancing her way through business school after all.
