Even after receiving a 24-hour extension from Senate Judiciary Chairman Chuck Grassley (R-IA) to get their affairs in order and testify before the Senate, Christine Blasey Ford’s legal team has thrown another wrench into the spokes.

It would appear Ford may not even show up on Thursday, as a deal is still not “done.”

The GOP wants to bring in a sex-crimes prosecutor to interview both Brett Kavanaugh and Ford, and Ford’s team isn’t loving the idea.

Here’s the scoop:

In new letter from Dr Ford’s Attorney to the Judiciary Committee, they again object to having outside counsel ask the questions for republicans at Thursday’s hearing, and ask for the name and resume of who that person will be.

This does not appear to be a done deal.

The letter:

Does Ford even want to testify at this point?

Americans don’t think so, gauging from reactions to this new information:

Kavanaugh reportedly has evidence that could potentially end the hoopla once and for all.

The judge is apparently set to provide proof he was out of town for the majority of the summer in question during the time Ford claims she was assaulted.

From The Daily Wire:

Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh reportedly has calendars from 1982 which show that he was out of town for much of the summer when his accuser, Christine Blasey Ford, claims that a party happened where Kavanaugh acted in an inappropriate manner towards her.

The calendars reportedly show that Kavanaugh was frequently out of town with his parents on vacation and, when he was home, was occupied with multiple planned sports activities that he participated in, The New York Times reported.

The Times notes that while Ford doesn’t remember when the party happened, she believes it took place in the summer of 1982 when she was 15.

Ed Whelan, president of the Ethics and Public Policy Center, says evidence is emerging that will 100% exonerate Judge Brett Kavanaugh from rumors of sexual assault.

From Politico:

But Whelan’s claim is the only one being taken seriously by conservatives, including several close to Kavanaugh, who were tantalized by his assertions, given his decadeslong friendship with Kavanaugh and close involvement with the nomination process. A graduate of Harvard Law School who served as a law clerk to the late Justice Antonin Scalia, and a blogger on legal issues for National Review Online, he has worked alongside Federalist Society executive director Leonard Leo advising the White House on judicial nominations.

“Ed Whelan is the model of careful, discerning legal analysis and commentary. It’s why all of us who know him take everything he says and writes so seriously,” said Rich Lowry, the editor of National Review, where Whelan writes on judicial issues.

Adding to the intrigue, Whelan has told at least three associates that his confidence level in his assertions is “close to 100 percent.”
