Since January 1975, New York has only had one Republican governor – George Pataki. The heavy Democrat influence in control of the state and the nation’s largest city has led to some of the strictest and socialistic laws. For example, remember Mayor Bloomberg’s ordinances against sugary drinks and pain killers?

New York’s current governor, Andrew Cuomo, a Democrat, is among those that would make a socialist like Barack Obama proud.

Among his many socialist ideologies, Cuomo would totally ban all private ownership of all firearms if the Supreme Court would allow it, so, he takes whatever measures he can to restrict the Second Amendment rights of the citizens.

In his latest move, he is pushing the extension of the 3-day waiting period to 10 days.

(Democrat & Chronicle) – New York would extend the background-check waiting period to buy a firearm from three days to 10 days under a proposal backed Sunday by Gov. Andrew Cuomo.

Cuomo’s support of the change, which has already passed the Democratic-led Assembly, would be an expansion of the state’s SAFE Act, the controversial gun-control law passed in 2013.

Cuomo said he joined the National Walkout Day last week with students from New York City and took their concerns to heart after the Florida school shootings last month.

“It is time for politicians to stand up and create real action and policy change,” Cuomo, who is seeking re-election in November, said in a statement.

“This change starts with doing everything in our power to keep guns out of the hands of people too dangerous to have them.” …

Making people wait a week longer to legally purchase a gun will have little if any impact on keeping guns out of the hands of people who shouldn’t have them. If anything, it will drive some people to go to the streets to illegally purchase the guns they want instead of waiting 10 days.
