Around 33 states have some form of stand your ground law, giving private citizens the legal right to stand their ground and defend themselves. In some states, the person needs to prove they felt threatened and in others, it’s only allowed if there was no avenue of escape.

About a dozen states are currently trying to strengthen their stand your ground laws (most to put burden of proof on the prosecutors instead of the defendant. About 10 states have seen laws introduced to weaken or repeal stand your ground laws and Florida is one of those.

The Sunshine state has long protected gun rights, but Democrats don’t want you to have that right and are asking for a special session of the legislature to be held so they can repeal the state’s stand your ground law.

(Bearing Arms) – Florida has a long history of being a fairly pro-gun state. Nicknamed the “Gunshine State” by some, they have a long history of passing pro-gun rights laws. At least, they did until this year when Parkland pressured lawmakers to pass a slate of gun control laws in a misguided effort to adhere to the outrage there.

However, Florida anti-gun lawmakers aren’t content to take their wins and be happy. No, they want more.

Responding to renewed public calls to repeal Florida’s controversial ‘stand your ground’ gun law, Democratic state lawmakers have triggered an official state poll of the 160 members of the Florida Legislature on whether a special session should be held on the issue.

With 39 Democrats signing a petition calling for the poll, Secretary of State Ken Detzner is now required to conduct the poll…

Every person who believes in the right to protect one’s self and their family, they need to confront Democrats, like the ones in Florida and demand they explain why they want to strip us of our right of self-defense. They’ll dance around and try all kinds of tactics to avoid answering, but we need to bring them back to the question and demand they answer, because they can’t give a satisfactory answer and they know it.
