If you believe the hype that anti-gun fanatics spew every chance they get, you would expect that fewer felons would be caught with firearms. Many of their gun control laws, including background checks and more, are designed to keep firearms out of the hands of felons and others who should not be in possession of firearms.

Yet, in many parts of the country, such as Lauderdale County in Florida, law enforcement have been encountering more and more felons that have been in possession of firearms, which is just the opposite of what gun control laws are supposed to do.

(WTOK) – Lauderdale County’s sheriff is speaking out about a growing issue in the area: felons illegally carrying weapons. Newscenter 11 sat down with Sheriff Billy Sollie to talk about those alarming numbers.

“Since January 1 of this year, the Lauderdale County Sheriff’s Department Detention Facility has processed 1,489 people through our back door,” he says.

That number includes people who have been charged in all of Lauderdale County, including the city of Meridian and town of Marion. Of that number that have been booked in, 50 were charged with being a felon in possession of a firearm.

“These are persons who have done everything from a felony DUI, all the way up to murder,” the sheriff explains…

This is further proof that gun control laws make no difference to criminals who are not supposed to have guns. They still find ways of getting the guns and thus, the gun control laws only make it more difficult for law abiding citizens to obtain firearms to use for self-defense.
