Remington has been sued for manufacturing the BushmasterAR-15 used at the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting. Bushmaster Firearms is a subsidiary of Remington. Now, small group of gun rights organizations have come to the defense of Remington. They see the lawsuit as a direct challenge to all gun rights and the viability of the firearms industry.
A handful of gun rights groups last month joined Remington in its defense against liability claims surrounding the December 2012 mass shooting at an elementary school in Newtown, Connecticut.
The groups filing requests to join the case in support of Remington Outdoor Company include the Connecticut Citizens Defense League, Gun Owners of America, the National Rifle Association and firearm industry trade association the National Shooting Sports Foundation.
Among the arguments brought by attorneys representing families of the victims in that shooting — which included 20 children under 8 years old and six adults killed, as well as two adults wounded — was that Remington knowingly sells military-style rifles to civilians…
Blaming Remington for the Sandy Hook School shooting is like blaming Ford when an angry woman uses her car to run over her husband, or blaming Estwing when a burglar uses one of their hammers to break into a house and bludgeon the homeowner to death. Liberal gun-haters are just using the lawsuit against Remington in their attempt to force all gun manufactures to close their doors and stop making or selling firearms.
