From The Daily Wire:

The Chicago Park District has put a halt to preparations being made for the Obama Presidential Library until after a federal court reviews a lawsuit filed by Chicago residents, and federal agencies assess the transfer of historic public land to a private entity.

But in the meantime, permits and agreements filed by Chicago city officials, and with the Chicago Department of Transportation, reveal a sweetheart rent deal that any Chicago renter (or landlord) would certainly envy: the Obama Foundation will pay a mere $10 for a 99-year lease on what is supposed to be a public park.

[…]

“The idea of leasing invaluable, irreplaceable public parkland to a private entity for $10 for 99 years is astounding in this era when public lands and natural resources are under attack in so many places,” the head of Jackson Park Watch told local media. “Besides, Chicago’s finances are extremely precarious. Yes, this is symbolic, but symbolism is significant.”

About the $175 million price tag to taxpayers, from Fox News:

The planned Obama Presidential Center in Chicago is being privately funded, but on Friday city officials estimated how much taxpayers will pay for roadwork and other construction around the center: $175 million.

It was the first time city officials put a specific dollar figure on the expected cost to the public, the Chicago Tribune reported.

“These proposed investments are intended to make the (center) and surrounding Jackson Park a world-class destination on par with Chicago’s Museum Campus,” the city’s Department of Transportation (CDOT) told the newspaper, in a statement accompanying the figures.

The planned taxpayer-funded work would include widening portions of some surrounding streets and constructing four or five new underpasses, the report said.

City officials said they intended to pursue “all potential options” for the project, including allocations from the state of Illinois.

The information was made public ahead of a scheduled meeting Tuesday, at which representatives from the Obama Foundation, a nonprofit leading the center’s construction, is expected to detail its plans, the report said.

Obama has been on a tear lately, giving anti-Trump speeches in both Illinois and California.

What’s interesting is that Obama campaigned in the Golden State with a fellow Democrat accused of sexual misconduct, and the media has yet to make a peep.

Why?

Here’s the scoop, per Breitbart:

Former President Barack Obama campaigned Saturday in Anaheim, California, with Democrat Gil Cisneros, who is facing accusations of sexual misconduct from a fellow Democrat.

Obama took the stage next to Cisneros at a rally that featured all seven Democrats running for Congress in key districts targeted by the party in the state. Each district is currently represented by a Republican but voted for Hillary Clinton in 2016.

Obama seemed unperturbed by the allegations against Cisneros, declaring: “We could not be prouder of Gil.”

Fox News has more:

Democratic activist and documentary filmmaker Melissa Fazli, who ran an unsuccessful primary ampaign for a state Assembly seat in California, accused Cisneros of propositioning to her during the California Democratic Party Convention in San Diego in February.

[…]

Fazli accused Cisneros of seeming intoxicated during a conversation in an elevator about donations to her campaign, then asking her, “Should we go back to your room?”

Fazli claims she spoke with Cisneros over the phone again regarding the donations. Cisneros allegedly asked her, “What are you going to do for me?” in a suggestive manner.
