Barack Obama is a fan of re-writing history, as are most on the left if it fits the agenda.

For example, during his Friday speech at the University of Illinois, Obama said he never attacked the press – an obvious swipe at President Donald Trump for constantly referring to the media as “fake news.”

However, 44 wasn’t being entirely truthful.

From The Blaze:

Former President Barack Obama is being applauded by many on the left for leaving the political sidelines and jumping into the fray for the midterms, but others are criticizing his lack of historical honesty for comments he made about freedom of the press.

[…]

“Did substantially increase leak prosecutions, however,” Maggie Haberman of the New York Times objected.

“Leak prosecutions were a big deal under Obama. It wasn’t a frontal attack, but it was a stealth one,” she added in a response to someone defending Obama.

CNN’s Kaitlan Collins responded with a quote from the New York Times summing up Obama’s actions against the freedom of the press.

“Under Obama, the DOJ and FBI spied on reporters by monitoring phone records, labeled one journalist an unindicted co-conspirator for simply doing reporting and issued subpoenas to others to try to force them to reveal their sources and testify,” the excerpt read.

Other critics were less moderate, like former governor Mike Huckabee, who retorted, “You wiretapped the AP and reporter @JamesRosenTV and even his parents! The IRS persecuted multiple conservative groups as did DOJ. You may not remember, but we do.”

Who could forget the numerous times Obama went after Fox News?

Also during his speech, Obama slammed all Republicans as paranoid, divisive, and resentful.

From Daily Wire:

Former President Barack Obama slammed tens of millions of Americans during his speech on Friday, claiming that they were paranoid, divisive, and resentful.

[…]

“But over the past few decades, the politics of division and resentment and paranoia has unfortunately found a home in the Republican party,” Obama continued. “This Congress has championed the unwinding of campaign finance laws to give billionaires outside influence over our politics.”

WATCH:

It would appear Obama is still not set on attempting to heal the American divide.

During the speech, Obama referred to himself 102 times – via American Mirror:

All told, the former president referred to himself – I, My, Me – more than 102 times in about 64 minutes, while simultaneously engaging in the type political pot shots he criticized Republicans for.

Obama’s favorite word seemed to be “I,” which he repeated at least 87 times, followed by more than a dozen references to “my” or “me.”

“By the time I left office, household income was near its all-time high, and the uninsured rate had hit an all-time low, and wages were rising, and poverty rates were falling. I mention all this just so when you hear how great the economy is doing right now, let’s just remember when this recovery started,” Obama told students.

It’s possible Obama hits the campaign trail hard for Democrats in the coming months, hoping to secure a House victory for his party.

However, many Dems have said they’re not that eager to have him on board.
